**This role contributes to projects and the sound archive by recording audio files directly from the field using traditional techniques.** They can also use modern techniques to capture audio from existing video and sound documentaries online.

To describe the craft an audio poet can utilise sound to paint pictures. They are aware of how narratives can be shaped and paced for the ear instead of the eye (Kern, 2008). This role asks of courage and persistence.
## Technical Details
Today, a radio journalist often carries a digital camera and a video camera, as well as a MiniDisc or flash recorder and a notepad. Reporters may be asked not only to take photographs, but also to record extra audio for the Web, to write a sidebar to be posted online or to take part in a podcast (Kern, 2008)
