There are two kinds of memory, explicit and implicit memory. Explicit memory is memory that we consciously utilize. Implicit is memory that we unconsciously utilize, for instance, what we call 'body memory' used when riding a bicycle.
Explicit memory is comprised of two types of memory, semantic memory and episodic memory.
**Semantic Memory** Semantic memory is where we store ideas and concepts, that allows us to interpret our experience for ourselves and others. We, as _homo sapiens_ are unique in our capacity to create and share the abstract ideas of this type of memory.
**Episodic Memory** Episodic memory are those memories that have been experienced on our life, those that often are associated with our feelings. Unlike semantic memory that can be shared, they are personal in nature.

_Perhaps we hold semantic memory in our brain while we hold the feelings of our episodic memory our stored in our bodies. _
