In federated wiki we are creating a new forms of conversation. Rather than simply facilitating existing or historical forms, we look rather to learn from the problems of habit, the faults and advantages of our competitive history, dig into anthropology to find gems, and look to technology and philosophy to find others on a similar path.

Conversation analysis is a branch of sociology which studies the structure and organization of human interaction, with a more specific focus on conversational interaction. It is not clear how useful this approach will be to the current task.
